Finally, Replacement harp strings! Let the music continue!
My happy harp, which had not been played for a long time when I purchased it, has been going through some tweaks, and its strings were needing replacement before I knew. I strung a few new ones on the harp, where they were missing, right after I got it. Then after tuning, I replaced a few that broke. It has been playing great, but then right in the middle of making new arrangements for recordings, I lost strings. Of course, now I learn from Abbie Palmer, that really, harp strings are usually replaced every two years. Now I know, and now I will have a set on hand. It is not convenient to be in the middle of working on music and to have to wait for repair.
Wait? Well….
Surprisingly, local music shops don't really deal with harps at all. More guitars, violins, and such instruments. So, I set out to find a harp store. This visit led to losing more strings, and the harp store also gave me the wrong gauge of strings, except one.
Oh, no! My harp was a mess for the first time - too bad off to practice or finishing arranging the music or to record. Days later, I was finally able to get my harp teacher to look at my little beauty, and I went back to ordering strings from the maker of the harp, as I had the first time I needed strings months earlier. Who knew this would all take weeks to get back on track, but I finally have new harp strings in hand.
Now to get to stringing.
